About Scholarship
As a woman who's enjoyed a solid career in the tech industry for the past 20 years, I wanted to pay homage to the guy who not only funded my university education but also planted the seed and encouraged me to go into computing in the first place: my stepdad Wayne Jones (http://waynejones.net/wayne/index.htm)
I was very lucky to have Wayne as a mentor and role model, both while studying and afterward when making my way in the working world. Thanks to his influence and support during those crucial years, I have been able to enjoy financial stability, independence, intellectual challenge and a sense of accomplishment in my daily work.
In honour of Wayne's 75th birthday this year, I am thanking him for the gift he gave me all those years ago by paying it forward and offering some financial and moral support to other women pursuing studies in this field.
