About Scholarship

Future Builders Athlete Scholarship

Purpose

The Future Builders Athlete Scholarship supports Canadian student-athletes who are committed to building their future both on and off the field. Sponsored by World Wide Websites in partnership with Co-Elite, this scholarship recognizes students who approach athletics with intention, creativity, and a mindset for long-term growth.

We believe the same traits that drive success in sport - discipline, problem-solving, consistency, and vision - also translate into fields like design, digital creation, and entrepreneurship. This award is designed for student-athletes who are not only preparing for post-secondary athletics, but who also show curiosity or interest in areas such as website design, digital media, software development, entrepreneurship, or creative problem-solving.

Applicants may come from any sport or background. What matters most is effort, progression, and the ability to think beyond today’s results toward the future they are building.

Athletic Portfolio Submission (Choose One)

Applicants must submit athletic evidence using one of the following methods. The goal is to provide a clear picture of your ability, commitment, and development as an athlete.

Option A: Co-Elite App

Create a complete athlete profile on the free Co-Elite app by the deadline, including:

  • At least one highlight reel or game footage (uploaded or linked), and
  • At least 2 written profile sections completed (3-4 recommended):
    • Personal Statement
    • Career Aspirations
    • Community Involvement
    • Accomplishments

Submitting via the Co-Elite app allows you to build a reusable athletic profile you can update and use beyond this scholarship.

Option B: Online Submission

Submit a comprehensive athletic portfolio including:

  • A link to video highlights or full game footage (YouTube, Vimeo, or similar), and
  • Written responses completed online (choose at least 2 sections (3-4 recommended), 200-250 words each):
    • Personal Statement (athletic journey and motivation)
    • Career Aspirations (academic + athletic direction)
    • Community Involvement (team, school, or community impact)
    • Accomplishments (roles, milestones, leadership)

Both submission methods are evaluated equally. Use whichever option allows you to present your journey most clearly.

Future Vision Statement

1,000 words maximum

We want to understand how you think when you’re building or working toward something - whether that’s a website, a design, a project, a system, or an idea. This statement focuses on your curiosity, initiative, and problem-solving mindset, and how your experiences (including sport, school, or personal projects) have shaped the way you learn, adapt, and grow.

In your response, please address the following:

  • Where your interest in design, digital creation, software, entrepreneurship, or problem-solving comes from
What got you interested? What do you enjoy learning or figuring out?
  • One clear example of something you’ve built, improved, or tried to create
This could be a website, design idea, school project, team initiative, personal experiment, or something you taught yourself.
  • How being an athlete has influenced the way you handle challenges or work toward goals
This could include discipline, practice, feedback, teamwork, or persistence.
  • How you see these skills helping you in the future after high school
This may relate to academics, athletics, career interests, or personal growth.

Tips:

  • This is not a resume
  • You do not need advanced technical skills or finished projects
  • We care more about your thinking and effort than your experience level
  • Use specific examples instead of general statements
  • Staying under the word limit matters

How Applications Are Evaluated

Applications are evaluated using documented criteria across three areas:

  • Athletic Talent, Commitment & Potential – 30%
  • Future Vision Statement (problem-solving, initiative & builder mindset) – 50%
  • Technical Compliance & Completeness – 20%

Using the Co-Elite app provides no advantage in judging. All applications are evaluated equally based on the quality and completeness of the submission.

Important Note for Grade 11 Recipients

Recipients entering Grade 12 in Fall 2026 must maintain the minimum GPA, continue athletic participation, and demonstrate ongoing intent to pursue post-secondary athletics to remain eligible for disbursement.

Disbursement

  • Grade 12 recipients: Funds sent directly to the Canadian post-secondary institution upon proof of enrollment and required details in Fall 2026.
  • Grade 11 recipients: Funds held and sent upon proof of enrollment and required details in Fall 2027, provided ongoing requirements are met.
  • Awards may be forfeited if enrollment is not confirmed by November 30 of the applicable year.
