About Scholarship

The scholarships will be awarded to the writers, craftspeople, and artists
best depicting the value of our ranching and cowboy heritage, ie:

  • Historical or contemporary ranching and stock-raising practices.
  • Figures involved in ranching and stock-raising practices.
  • Art, industries, institutions and/or technologies which support or sustain historical or contemporary ranching and stock-raising practices.
  • Cowboy Craft, eg: horsehair braiding, leather work, metal work, etc.

About Company

The BC Cowboy Heritage Society was incorporated on June 5, 1996 with the objective to promote, encourage, establish, conduct and operate events and activities relating to the preservation of cowboy heritage in BC while fostering and developing community interest. This is being accomplished through the BC Cowboy Hall of Fame, the Kamloops Cowboy Festival, and the BC Cowboy Heritage Society Student Scholarships, and the Joe Marten Memorial Award for the Preservation of Cowboy Heritage in BC.
