The student must have experienced the impact of cancer either personally or within his/her immediate family.
Purpose
The Jason Thomas Memorial Scholarship fund is established by the family to assist local post-secondary students who have limited financial resources due to the impact of cancer on their immediate family.
History
Jason Thomas is the son of Daniel and Mary and younger brother of Justin. Jason brought joy, love and laughter. He was the light of their lives. Jason was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of three. He bravely fought the disease. Sadly, on February 14th of 1996, Jason’s time here on earth was cut short. His family endured tremendous adversity, but God’s grace brought them through and strengthened them.
The family is committed to stressing the importance of a quality education even as a member of the family is battling cancer. In Jason’s memory, and in keeping with the family’s priorities, the Jason Thomas Memorial Scholarship Committee will award financial assistance to deserving young person(s) entering college, university, or other post-secondary education programs, who have experienced the impact of cancer in their immediate family.
If you are selected as a successful applicant, you will have to attend the cheque presentation ceremony to receive your scholarship cheque.
The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation acts as the official fundraising arm of the Windsor Regional Cancer Program. 100% of funds raised remain local to fund state-of-the-art equipment and support cancer awareness, treatment, and research.
